PENDER COUNTY (WWAY) — The Pender County Board of Commissioners held its first county budget work session today.
It was the first of four work sessions commissioners plan to hold in the next few weeks.
The county’s health department budget will be close to $60,000 less than last years.
Also, the sheriff’s office has requested a 16% increase.
Board of Commissioners Chair, Brad George, the county will be able to handle the expected increases from departments.
“The good thing about Pender County is we’re growing at a rate where we can sustain our budget without a tax increase. There is no projected tax increase with this budget at this time. So that’s always a good thing.”
The board of education, volunteer fire departments, and sheriff’s office, are expected to speak about their budgets at future work sessions.
